I Need You & You Need Me - A Song From Egypt

Image
I need you & You need me We are connected with thousands of connections I'm just like you & you're just like me Both of us love the goodness & the wellbeing of others I have no one other than you, that's for sure No one of us chose the other Me and you are a story of people who share their life together Your existence completes me.... because I can’t make it alone. Your features are all mine, only the name is different With a simple gesture to tell me you’re by my side Lighten my burden with just a word from your heart You plant my loaf of bread (wheat ) And i sew your clothes Today you stand at my door, Tomorrow i'll stand at yours You teach my son & raise him up And your illness iscured with my medicine You build my house, I gurard you & your house I need you & You need me We are connected with thousands of connections I'm just like you & you're just like me Both of us love the goodness & the we

I Have A Lover Up There - A Song from Iraq

Image
This is a translation of an old traditional Iraqi song  :) The story behind the song is that there is a poor young man that fell in love with a girl from a rich family, after seeing her on their big house's balcony and exchanging glances. I've got a lover up there I've got a lover up there I don't know if that's the shine of your cheek or a shine from above (ie the moon) I swear I don't even want her It's ruining me I have no hope for my soul, you're still my beloved Everyone gets to be with you and my destiny is to be abandoned by you I swear she's torturing me and she has no interest in me Oh river, for God's sake go say hi to them for me The separation is hard for me I miss them Your cheek shined, my love, and lit up the country I can't make my soul patient or bear this separation I swear she captured me with her beautiful eyes All the faces pass, and my eyes are only on yours May the lord bless you my love I swear she's

We Shall Live in Peace Someday

Image
We shall overcome, we shall overcome, We shall overcome someday; Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe, We shall overcome someday. The Lord will see us through, The Lord will see us through, The Lord will see us through someday; Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe, We shall overcome someday. We're on to victory, We're on to victory, We're on to victory someday; Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe, We're on to victory someday. We'll walk hand in hand, we'll walk hand in hand, We'll walk hand in hand someday; Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe, We'll walk hand in hand someday. We are not afraid, we are not afraid, We are not afraid today; Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe, We are not afraid today. The truth shall set us free , the truth shall set us free, The truth shall set us free someday; Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe, The truth shall set us free someday. We shall live in peace, we shall live in peace, We shall live in peace

Rachel: An American Conscience

Image
Rachel Aliene Corrie (April 10, 1979 – March 16, 2003) from Olympia, Washington, was an American peace activist as well as a member of the pro-Palestinian group called International Solidarity Movement (ISM). She was crushed to death by an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) armored bulldozer in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip under during the height of the second Palestinian intifada. Here is a must see documentary, Rachel: An American Conscience Only a couple of  weeks later another international volunteer 24 year old American  activist Brian  Avery was shot by Israel Defense Forces on April 5, 2003. The shooting according to Human Rights Watch was "unprovoked and did not occur in the context of any apparent hostilities" caused Avery to suffer permanent disfigurement. Only 6 days after Avery was shot in the face 21 year old British photography student Tom Hurndall was shot in the back of the head as he tried to rescue a terrified Palestinian chi

Rachel - Palestine's Angel

In the loving memory of Rachel Corrie, Palestine's Angel 11 years ago a beautiful person named Rachel was murdered while resisting tyranny & oppression ................. She was crushed to death by an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) armored bulldozer in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip under during the height of the second Palestinian intifada. Beautiful Rachel She had come to Gaza as part of her senior-year college assignment to connect her home town with Rafah in a sister cities project. While there she had engaged with other ISM activists in efforts to non-violently prevent the Israeli army's demolition of the homes of Palestinian people. Less than two months after her arrival, on March 16, 2003, Corrie was killed after a three-hour confr

Palestine - Paradise - Every tear a waterfall

Image
In the loving memory of Rachel Corrie Palestine's American Angel When she was just a girl She expected the world But it flew away from her reach so She ran away in her sleep And dreamed of Para-para-paradise, Para-para-paradise, Para-para-paradise Every time she closed her eyes When she was just a girl She expected the world But it flew away from her reach And the bullets catch in her teeth Life goes on, it gets so heavy The wheel breaks the butterfly Every tear a waterfall In the night the stormy night she'll close her eyes In the night the stormy night away she'd fly And dreams of Para-para-paradise Para-para-paradise Para-para-paradise And so lying underneath those stormy skies She'd say, "oh, ohohohoh I know the sun must set to rise" This could be Para-para-paradise Para-para-paradise     From The River to the Sea, Palestine Will Be Free!

Hawi - Juggler, Arabic Song with English Subtitles

Image
Baeet Hawi I Became a Juggler ( Illusionist ) I Became a Juggler I am addicted now to hold back my tears when grieving the most And learnt how to dig out apiece of bread from the ribs of poverty I learnt very well to hide my tears inside my heart, no matter what...... I accepted having to sleep with my head dangling down like a bat I Got used to see my dreams running in front of me without being able to reach them I gave up left the dust on my face & believe me this whole life is not worth it I Got used to see my dreams running in front of me without being able to reach them I gave up left the dust on my face & believe me this whole life is not worth it I became a juggler I became a juggler

Letter from Under the Water -- by Nizar Qabbani

Image
Letter from Under the Water   If you are my friend... Help me...to leave you Or if you are my lover... Help me...so I can be healed of you... If I knew.... that the ocean is very deep...I would not have swam... If I knew...how I would end, I would not have began *** I miss you...so teach me not to do so  teach me... how to cut the roots of your love from the depths teach me... how tears may die in the eyes and how the longing  may commit suicide *** If you are prophet, Cleanse me from this spell Save me from this atheism... Your love is like atheism...so purify me from this atheism *** If you are strong... Rescue me from this ocean For I don't know how to swim The blue waves...in your eyes drag me...to the depths       and I have no experience in love...and no boat... *** If I am dear to you then take my hand For I am filled with love ...from my head to my feet ***

For A Long Long Time ............. من زمان جدا

Just translating lyrics of a lovely song in Arabic (Egyptian dialect) : What are we like?!!!! We are like those who fall in love, but they never admit it........... What are we like ?! We are like those who are even afraid to dream, So they don't really live And they have never found a way to meet one another..............   What are we like?!.............. We are like stories that I have lived Or an incomplete dream that came to an end we are like things that take place in the wrong time or we're like the pain that I've just got used to ................. Even though the talk about love from the first sight is an old one, just like a broken record Even though the coincidence sometimes can be so much better than one million appointments And even though the  words  we speak start to lose their meanings when we talk so much And even though I'm stubborn & proud And I never utter such words easily I felt like saying it to you w
