I Wish I Had Two Hearts

If I had two hearts I'd live with one of them and let the other to be tortured by your love but I only have one heart owned by love Neither pleased by living nor that death is near like a little bird in the hands of a child insulting it suffering from the torment of death while the child plays neither is the child's aware of its suffering Nor the wings of the Bird are free, that it can fly - Qays Ibn Al Mulawwah This is a 1300 year old Arabic love poem.

O’ Thou who is Utterly Just

Here is a quick translation of those Arabic Poetry verses:   Oh the most fair one in his judgement, who never commits injustice The truth is clear yet so many try to silence it ........ Oh the one who hears our voices, If you don't respond to us, Who else would listen? & show us mercy? Oh the one who is in his hand the control of everything, Shower us with your kindness cause you know best what your slave is going through.......         This short yet beautiful poem is by a Yemeni poet named  Hasan Ibn Ali Ibn jaber ( 1638-1668 )   Tried my best to translate it but many things get lost in the translation  :)   Came across those beautiful verses by chance while i was listening to the poem being  executed in a

It was the de facto national anthem of Palestine since then and until 1967. It is also recognized in Syria and Algeria, as well as other Arab states, as an anthem as to show their support for the Palestinian cause. The original music was composed by Muhammad Fuliefil (Arabic: محمد فليفل ‎). During the years it became very popular through the Arab world.       English translation My homeland, My homeland Glory and beauty, Sublimity and splendor Are in your hills, Are in your hills Life and deliverance, Pleasure and hope Are in your air, Are in your Air Will I see you? A Beloved Month

Image
Ramadan Ramadan ( Arabic : رمضان ‎ is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. Muslims worldwide observe this as a month of fasting. Ramadan is a month that Muslims await & look forward to every year :) It's my favourite time of the year. It's a good opportunity to enjoy the quality time with the family & friends :) I remember when i was little, when my dear mother would make me & my siblings a filling breakast to eat before going to school & we would fast for some hours & break our fasting when we go home & a year after another, we could finally make it to the sunset just like the growups! :D That felt like an accomplishment for a child :) I miss those days :)  I remember my parents waking us up to eat before it's Dawn. I remember my father leading us in Dawn prayer. I remember my father asking me to read the Quran with him instead of reading it alone & i would just blush & start laughing cause i would be so shy and nervous :D

Tom Hurndall, A Name to Be Remembered

Image
11 years ago on a day like today, On 11th April 2003, British peace activist and photojournalist Tom Hurndall was shot in the head while trying to rescue a little girl. The Israeli army were invading the city of Rafah, in the Gaza Strip when Tom and other ISM volunteers saw a group of children in a street where snipers were firing. Witnesses say that bullets were shot around the children, who were paralysed by fear and unable to move – Tom pulled one child, a young boy to safety, Having carried the boy to safety, he went back to the same spot to rescue a young girl and as he was attempting to carry her, he got hit in the head by an Israeli sniper bullet. He went into a coma and died nine months later in a hospital in London on 13th January 2004. He was 22 years old. “What do I want from this life? What makes you happy is not enough. All the things that satisfy our instincts only satisfy the animal in us. I want to be proud of myself. I want more. I want to look up to myself an

Palestinian Family Tragedy

Image
On 10 March 2014, Raed Zuayter, a distinguished judge and PhD holder, was killed by Israeli soldiers while crossing the border between Jordan and the West Bank of Palestine. Here is what his father told Carrie Schwartz during an Interview with the family of Raed Zuayter, 21 March 2014, Amman, Jordan  “He was born in 1976. He went to the best schools in Amman. After finishing high school, he went to the University of Jordan to study a bachelor’s in law. Then he asked me, ‘What do you think, Dad? Should we go for a master’s?’ I said, ‘We don’t mind.’ He finished his master’s and asked me, ‘What do you think, shall we go for PhD?’ And I answered him, ‘Yes, go for a PhD.’ When he finished his PhD, he went to the judicial institute to become a judge. In the judiciary, he was appointed as a judge for reconciliation. He got a raise on the first of March. He was promoted. And then he passed away.” The story of Raed’s death began with another tragedy: Raed’s four-year-old son was hospital

Oh Bird - A Song from Jordan

Image
Oh bird flying high  For the love of God deliver my message  Send my salam (greetings) & my love  Oh bird flying high  Your providence comes from God's grace Come with the good news  And wander as much as you want in God's land  How can i go to sleep while thinking of you  Even fish in the sea feel for my condition Every day i say maybe tomorrow i can see my loved one  & greet them by kissing their forehead For you i can give away my life take me to your kindness  For you i can give away my life take me to your kindness  Don't turn & go away i have no one else but you  Don't turn & go away i have no one else but you  Oh bird if i saw my loved one in my dreams  Wake up at night, travel & go send him my greetings  Send my greetings oh you who are heading to the east My fear from my people is far easier than being away from my beloved  Oh bird flying high  Your providence comes from God's grace   Come with the good ne
