Oh bird flying high 
For the love of God deliver my message 
Send my salam (greetings) & my love 

 Oh bird flying high 
Your providence comes from God's grace

 Come with the good news 
And wander as much as you want in God's land 

 How can i go to sleep while thinking of you 
Even fish in the sea feel for my condition

 Every day i say maybe tomorrow i can see my loved one 
& greet them by kissing their forehead

 For you i can give away my life take me to your kindness

 Oh bird if i saw my loved one in my dreams 
Wake up at night, travel & go send him my greetings

Here is a more than a millennium old Arabic poem. It is by a famous Arab poet named Abu at-Tayyib al-Mutanabbi (915 – 23 September 965). He is considered to be one of the greatest poets in Arabic literature. My translation does not do it justice :   Tell my dear beloved who lives in the chambers of my heart, That even if I don't meet him, I still meet him And that my sight is connected to seeing him...
